Biography

Drawing has been a major part of C.M. Holtwick’s life, going back to when he was a young child growing up in the suburbs of Cleveland, OH. Throughout his youth, he studied countless How to Draw books while at home, and filled the margins of his notebooks with various doodles while at school. Holtwick trained himself at an early age, to see life with a sense of humor and make light of situations through his art, through drawing comics and cartoons of teachers and bullies or sketching sports figures from the newspaper.

After spending his childhood and adolescent years in the Cleveland Area, Holtwick studied Two Dimensional Art at Bowling Green State University in Bowling Green, Ohio. Taking a well-rounded schedule, Holtwick dabbled in everything from Glassblowing to History, but focused his time on digital art, painting, and figure drawing classes.

Holtwick received his BFA in 2D Studies in 2002 and soon after, relocated to San Diego, Ca. where he began doing freelance design and illustration. In the true nature of C.M. Holtwick’s style, he began looking for a way to expand his palette and stumbled upon drawing caricatures. Over the past 4 years, Holtwick has been working professionally as a caricature artist at a San Diego theme park and has drawn thousands of caricatures at private parties and events.
